The risks that can create a crisis for companies are always changing. The latest ranking of the top three risk factors, according to the results of a new survey, are cybersecurity, economic uncertainty and—increasingly—political.

In these turbulent political times, political related risks are casting a larger shadow across the business landscape. “Political risk has climbed into the top three corporate threats, rising from fifth place last year. Nearly all risk leaders (97%) say political risks are impacting their business in some way, and 40% describe the impact as significant or severe, according to the “2025 New Generation of Risk Report” that was prepared and released today by Riskonnect. The survey of 200 risk, compliance, and resilience professionals worldwide across different industries was conducted in June and July 2025.
